What a ride this has become. When I first learned that I won the Tangerine Category I did two things. I cried and then I screamed. And it has been a frenzy of excitement ever since. My chin hit the floor when I was sent to have my photo taken professionally for the website. So where did I land? At Sassey Photoz! Now here is a lady who is full of passion for her work as a photographer. Her energy is magnetic. I was impacted by this 20 or 30 minute encounter simply because she was being her real self. That is the effect we can all have on one another. The people who share this journey with me are my family, my friends, and all of the bonus people who have come my way. There are key people who simply make an impact just because they share my excitement. The collective energy from the sales lady who helped me choose my outfit for the photo shoot, to my hairdresser who did my hair ‘on the house’ for this fun event, all impact the dream.
A friend called last night to get excited with me! She was blown away by how professional my sale looks. How can that kind of energy not generate more of the same! She also reminded me that she recalls a time when I was very hesitant to hang some of my work on a display board at a local community theatre event. It took some convincing, but she is a very convincing person. That was my first taste of public feedback and the first of many art shows. Sometimes it takes a bit of encouragement to step forward. Thank you my friend for being part of the village that helped this dream come true! We all need a boost with our wavering confidence from time to time.
First and foremost this dream is being realized because of the sheer passion for the beautiful outdoors, a camera and the willingness to get out of bed at the crack of dawn. I can’t even begin to guess how many hours I have spent being out there. I go freely, this isn’t a job; it is a joy. No punch clock necessary!
We all have the power within us to make a dream come true. The success of my dream however is greatly impacted by the love and support of the people in my life. They are all part of the village that helped raise this dream. To have that kind of support is a true gift. We all have people that we automatically call when we want to share some exciting news. Usually they are the same people that we turn to when we need someone to lean on. They are the buffers when we go through life’s transitions. We can’t do it alone. Nor do we want to. Shared experience is quadrupled when we share it with genuine people. I seem to be surrounded by them. A huge nod to everyone who has called, hugged, dropped an email, took video clips of me, clicked “Like” on Facebook, who sent me words of encouragement, you know who you are. And I know who you are! You are the dream makers who have helped me realize mine.
When you have a village cheering you on, you just can’t go wrong!
