I love light, shadow, colour, movement and stillness. When I am out in nature I see all of that and more. There is nothing like the sound that the outdoor life offers. I love streaming sunrays and rising mist. There is so much truth and beauty in this magnificent world. I so often have to remind myself to breathe as I am clicking the shutter.
This is not a hobby. This is simply a way of being.
There is nothing like crawling out of bed at the crack of dawn and heading out to witness the magic of a new day coming to life. It is the most peaceful time. Often my husband comes with me when he is free to do so (that thing called ‘work’ gets in the way) but often times it is just me and my camera. I sometimes question my sanity when I am out there stepping over bear poop as I walk along an off-road trail. Yikes! But then I feel this incredible pull of the emerging sunrays calling me further down the path. It draws me in every time.
This thing I do is so hard to put into words. It is much more than merely taking pictures! It is so deeply personal. It takes me to another place. It’s a time to be inside myself while looking at the simple beauty that surrounds us each and everyday.
Whether I am out there with my husband or taking a photography holiday with my sister, when I am behind that lens, it’s just me, my camera and my inner most thoughts.
It is wonderful to escape all worries, leave them behind and journey into the world of beauty. Seeing your photographs lets me share a little bit of our breathtaking northern Ontario. Can’t wait to see more of your beautiful work.

To engage in your creativity (in whatever way you are moved to) is like stepping outside of the timespace that everyone else is recognizing; it’s like most of the time we are visiting a separate world where we can all come together and share experience, but when we are being imaginative and creative, we are in our world, a space where we are intimate with ourselves and where we learn what all the hubbub around us means to us and where we learn what all the hubbub inside us means as well. In one, we are the observer and learner, in the other, we are the friend and ambassador. I think that, probably, moving between these two spaces is an integral part of the human experience; everyone does it, whether they realize it or not. I think also that many need to spend more time in their personal space and learn to value it more and that we all should redefine what it means for ourselves to be creative so that we don’t use a shallow definition that leads us to believe that there is such a thing as being unable or inept in creativity. That doesn’t make sense! After all, in your world, you are always right. 😉
That’s just what this post made me think of.
Congratulations to you for finding this path to your space!
And congratulations for your award!
wow, thanks Adria! you are bang on! That space where we are inside of ourselves is truly sacred!
